In the light of serving the community and enhancing the awareness of the citizens’ rights and duties, the faculty of law of the British University in Egypt held on Thursday 27th of April 2017 its sixth legal culture seminar discussing the “The constitutional Judiciary in Egypt”.
Counselor “Abdelaziz Salman”, Vice President of the High Constitutional Court in Egypt, was the guest speaker on the session.
Professor Hassan Abdel Hamid, dean of the faculty of law as well as the academic staff, attended alongside with the students of the faculty of law. The professor also tackled the possibility of tracking committer of internet crimes by tracking the IP address or the serial number of the devise he’s using to commit the crime.
The guest speaker elaborated on the court’s jurisdiction and its composition. He has also defined the court as an in independent judiciary body which does not fall under the authority of any other entity not even the ministry of justice. Moreover and with regards to members and judges of the court, he mentioned that they cannot be isolated from their positions and that they enjoy an immunity that would delay their conviction of any criminal act until after its waiver.
Counselor “Abdelaziz Salman” also stated the authority of the court regarding the matters arising before it. He has also clarified that the court decides on the future consequences of its decided matters in cases where changes on the occurring matter may cause disturbance in the society. At the end of the seminar, a period of questions and answers was open to allow the audience seek more information from the honorable guest. In closure, Professor Hassan Abdel Hamid thanked Counselor “Abdelaziz Salman “for his informative and enlighten session.
