The Economics Department at the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science (BAEPS) successfully organized and held the “MENA Energy Transition” winter school which took place during the period 11-17 December 2021. The winter school was an integral component of the DAAD funded project titled “Building a Sustainable Energy Future (BASEF)”, which is a cooperation between the BUE Economics Department and the Institute of Energy Economics at the University of Cologne. This project highlights SDG #7, which is about ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
The initiative, organised by Dr. Rania Miniesy – Associate Professor of Economics and Acting Head of Economics Department and her Winter School team hosted a total of 27 participants, representing three universities and four nationalities. The participants came from different academic backgrounds including Economics, Political Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. Most participants were post-graduate students; however, the winter school was also attended by undergraduate students as well as faculty staff from the BUE.
