The Political Science Department at the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science (BAEPS) hosted the p (also known as the V4) – a cultural and political alliance of four counties of Central Europe – the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi participated in the V4 summit in Hungary last October to strengthen ties between the group and Egypt as well as to discuss opportunities in trade, investment and tourism. Continuing in this vein .The visiting V4 Ambassadors, comprised H.E. Mr. András Kovács, Ambassador of Hungary, H.E. Mr. Michal Labenda,, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Jan Fulík, Ambassador of the Czech Republic and finally Deputy Head of Mission of the Slovakian Embassy, Mr. Matej Dostál.
Our esteemed guests were welcomed by Professor Mohamed Loutfi, University President and Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Wadouda Badran, Dean of BAEPS, along with Professor Hadia Fakhreldein, Vice Dean for Teaching and Learning, and Professor Amany Khodair, the Head of the Political Science Department.
The Ambassadors’ visit included talks to the members of the entire faculty’s community, including the students and staff. The talks shed light on the Visegrad Group, the group’s aims and goals, which include advancing cooperation in different areas including culture, education, economic and energy-related matters.
The event served to truly illustrate the historic and strategic relationship between Egypt and the V4 countries and was concluded with an important announcement by Dr Rasha Mansour, Programme Director of the Political Science Department, that the next Political Science Conference Model (PSCM) will work to include international students and has suggested that V4 state members encourage their students’ participation.
