The British University in Egypt (BUE) is proud to announce the launch of “Ershad Masr” mobile application, by the research team at the Faculty of Engineering. The newly developed application provides advisory services for small farmers; which comes in the context of Egypt’s strategic objective for digital transformation.
The application helps the farmers to conduct best agricultural practices that are in line with the latest agricultural trends. Through a user-friendly interface, the Ershad Masr application provides different styles of advisory services that fit the exact needs of each and every farmer. These services include simplified infographics, real-life illustrative videos, and recorded voice messages that help and guide them through every step in the process.
Smallholder farmers remain a cornerstone of agricultural and food supply chains in many developing countries, highlighting the importance of agricultural advisory services in enhancing agricultural productivity, combating climate change, increasing food security, improving rural livelihoods, and promoting agriculture as an engine for economic growth.
This mobile application is part of the “Sustainable Interactive e-Agriculture Extension” project, and was funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), and later acquired by the British University in Egypt on December 1st, 2019.
