Professor Maha Emara joined BUE in September 2017. Currently she is the Head of Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. From 1982 till 2017 before joining BUE, she has been teaching at the English Department of the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University. 

Roles and Responsibilities (Ain Shams University): 

There she taught many courses among which are: 
1982 - 2017: Courses in English Literature for undergraduate and post-graduate students. 
1999 – 2005: TOEFEL at Ain Shams Centre for Public Services and Development.     
1997 – 2001: Business English at Ain Shams Faculty of Commerce English Section. 
1997 – 1998: English language at Ain Shams Faculties of Pharmacy and Dentistry. 
M.A. and Ph.D. Vivas: 
She participated in several vivas.

Responsibilities
Head of the English Language and Literature Department. Responsibilities include: Representing the Department both within the Faculty and the University. Working collaboratively with academic staff on a shared vision for the Department. Ensuring academic validation of programmes and adoption of UK academic quality assurance standards. Effective management of academic and administrative staff, as well as hiring new staff. Communicating the University’s strategic goals, regulations and policy to staff members. Meeting with students to assess strengths and challenges in their academic and professional lives. Supervising examination period tasks. Undertaking other duties as may be required by the Faculty Dean.
