The British University in Egypt celebrated the opening of the First building of the Science and Innovation Park on the 8th of December. This is considered as the first – connected Science Park among Universities in Egypt and the district, occupying a total area of 14,000 m2.
The inauguration started with a keynote speeches by prominent figures from the university and key partners, followed by short presentation about the new building and a visit to some of the Nanotechnology Research Centre labs and the Science Park facilities.
Science and Innovation Park mission is to offer world-class environment for academics, organizations and entrepreneurs to effectively participate in advanced innovations, share information and make chances to drive enterprise in multidisciplinary divisions.
The Park as well contains one of the best Nano-technology Centre, including several labs divided into a Nanomaterials Synthesis Units, a Characterization Unit, and a Biological Applications Unit. The centre will offer its services to all clients who are keen on making, creating or applying nanotechnology to research and industrial segments aligned with national needs and R&D priorities.
The event was attended by distinguished members of BUE Board of Trustees and dignitaries including H.E. Mrs. Laura Kansikas, Ambassador of Finland to Egypt, Prof. Mahmoud Sakr, President of Academy of Scientific Research, Prof. Seddik Abd-Elsalam, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Private Universities, Mr. Lidong, Minister Counselor and Chief of Mission, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Egypt, Mr. Li Zhiqiang, Party Secretary and Vice Chairman of Tus-Holdings Co., Deans and Academic staff members.
This achievement is the result of a long collaboration with Tsinghua University TusHoldings group, the largest international innovation network operating with more than 300 innovation bases in China and worldwide.
